Notes:
On track one, the drummer used a fly squasher to hit the snares with, to get that special sound of the first half of the song.
On track two, what sounds like keyboard on "guitar" mode improvising in the background, is actually a guitar imitating a keyboard on "guitar" mode, losely following the original melody.
One track 3, all backup singers were really off-key, but mixing all vocal tracks together made it less obvious, though it's clearly still there.
Track 4 is a perfect copy of the short version of Poppa was a rolling stone.
Track 5 was a single take recording, with the guitar sound ripped from the original track as there was no way of imitating it.
Track 6 was the first song the band recorded with two drummers.
No one could sing Track 7, so when the CD was released someone quickly dubbed the melody on keyboards.
Track 9 is in fact a cover of the Blues Brothers version (1980, with Aretha Franklin and three of her relatives on vocals(
Track 11 has not been edited to preserve the same sound as the original (not an unusual routine for F.U.N.K.)
For track 14, the guitarist had to use the pedal of the hihat, as the new drummer was not capable of playing a discobeat at that time.
Track 16 was recorded in a single take where all the performers were way out there. The take lasted 26 minutes but the tape ripped after 8 mins.
Track 19 marked the beginning of a new era in the band's history, it being the first succesful recording in a year with the new line-up and new musical style. It was somewhere between the 50th and 55th take that the song suddenly worked from beginning to end.
