Total Time ::: 1:13:48

::: Distorted but assimilatable quality of astounding music. Check samples to see if you can come to grips with it or for a few flashes in the pan.
::: Warts: Unfortunate distortion & sibelence thruout, but dealable. #6 had a bit o' jitter & was heavily cross-patched to compensate. Tapeflip aplice @ ~45mins. #14 cuts near end but actually band had a sound problem & stopped it (hence the acoustic #15). #16 has some weird sound issue near start so cross-channel patched an entire ~7 second bit. Surely missed some dullspots&dropouts but got the worst of 'em after 9 or hours!
::: The Vestrymen opened the eve. That Matt Davis was a nice fellow (hopefully still is) - think he could even play a little softball!
::: "The Big Shot Chronicles" tour tho' some band members had changed prior to the tour. They play 1/2 of it live here as well as almost 1/2 of "Real Nighttime".
::: Seems to circulate in some fashion online, but this should be an upgrade - lossless, low gen & a LOT of repair work done to it.
::: NOT where the Game Theory beginner should start - there are FAR better quality tapes around. However, 'twas 1 o' the best 80s shows I saw & 1 of the 3 or so best (out of about 200) in 1986 (Green On Red being another). Absolutely essential for hardcore G.T. fans, as they will groove on it right thru the distortion. F'ing great setlist & performance compared to many others & Scott is FLYING by halfway thru - stunning guitar playing & WAY energetic - check out "Shark Pretty"!

Recording Information ::: mono or narrow stereo soundboard -> unknown stereo cassette recorder -> master soundboard "stereo" cassette -> 1st generation cassette -> 2nd generation Maxell MX-90 cassette, Dolby B on.

Playback 2012-03-19 ::: 2nd generation Maxell MX-90 cassette on Nakamichi BX-300 cassette deck, Dolby B on, azimuth & pitch adjusted, heads cleaned & demagnatized -> Tascam CD-RW900SL pro CD recorder -> CD-RW -> computer, EAC secure -> wavs.

Remastering 2014-09-xx ::: wavs -> Audacity [normalisation to remove DC offset, channel/phase alignment, fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch, bump, pop, click, dropout & dullspot repairs, volume adjustments, NO equalisation] -> CD Wave (track splits) -> flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. First uploaded week of 2014-09-13.

Line-up ::: Scott Miller - acoustic & electric guitars, vocals // Donnette Thayer - rhythm electric guitar, vocals // Shelley LaFreniere - keyboards // Guillaume Gassuan - electric bass // Gil Ray - drums.

Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.

DimeTravel 063 ::: Thanks to the original taper & traders! ::: Corrections welcome ::: I saw some of the best rock concerts of my life right around this time, and this was up there. REALLY too bad the quality ain't better, as this show was memorable in the extreme. Scott was changing the shape of the air with his guitar playing - it was transcendent, joyful, scintillating psychedelia. And look at this song selection. A real Game Theory freak, you could stand on yer head & drink a bottle of Moxie while playing chess with a league of ghosts. Even if you can't deal with the distortion, it's well worth it for the solo electric songs if nothing else & they don't suffer from so many issues at all. Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yers truly, Knees
