::: The original upload from 2012-11-10 shall now be known as the Mk1 version. It is obsolete courtesy of the Mk2 issue.
::: These new Mk2 & Mk3 versions fixed various level issues & repaired dropouts & dullspots & reception crackle (manually 1 at a time).

Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline. None of these versions are the same as the commercially released CD. The 1995 Strange Fruit CD contains a BBC In Concert from 1976 & a John Peel studio session from 1978 with some of these same songs, but these versions are all live in 1978 with an audience & none are the same versions as the '78 Peel session. Each track was compared just to be sure.

DimeTravel 275 ::: Thanks to the original taper & trader "The Reel Master" for recording it off the air. ::: Corrections welcome ::: This is one of the reasons I collect unreleased music. Superb acoustic & electric sets from one of my favorite folkrock duos ever. A brief history is Terry played with the forefathers of the Irish folkrock scene, Sweeney's Men, then along with Gay was with the original Steeleye Span & played on the first record, "Hark! The Village Wait". They went on to form the Woods Band (who released once of the finest albums of the era, "The Woods Band") & also toured & played in some configurations with Dr. Strangely Strange. Evolving into Gay & Terry Woods for a number of years, often with a backing band, they recorded 3 outstanding records, "Backwoods" (1975), "The Time Is Right" (1976), "Renowned" (1976), "Tender Hooks" (1978), and we have subsequently gotten "In Concert" (1995; rec. 1976-78) & Lake Songs from Red Waters (compilation, 2003). By the time of this session they have evolved into a more electric outfit with more than a small nod to the Thompsons IMHO. Excellent quality & an outstanding musical performance recorded before a live audience. Transformational folkrock of the first order. An offshoot of Sweeney's Men, early Steeleye Span, Orphanage, The Woods Band (and pre-Pogues & Auto Da Fe). If you like folkrock, this is absolutely not to be missed. Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yrs truly, Knees

P.S. PLEASE. Years on since my last request for these but still searching for Gay & Terry Woods BBC John Peel Show 1975-06-03 and broadcast on 1975-06-16 with Blackbird, Winter Poem, When The Time Is Right, Song For The Gypsies, Country Girlie, The Hymn. I would love to hear it & I am sure many other people would as well & I am not getting any younger... Also, I have uploaded Gay & Terry Woods 1970-11-03 Top Gear with 3 tracks (January Snows/I Feel Concerned/A Nobleman's Fair Daughter) but the 4th track "Van Dieman's Land" is missing from my copy. It would be a remarkable discovery to upgrade & complete the session... Can anyone help?
