Okay, after getting the hang of this torrent thing a couple weeks ago,
I figure it's time to give it another go. I have a few Giant shows
that haven't gotten around much, so I'll try to give them a bit
wider circulation here.

This is a rare one. It's quite short, but appears to be the
complete set, as Giant played first on a triple bill, followed by
Mountain and headliners J. Geils. The guy who taped this show got
to talk to some guys in Giant the next day. Kerry Minnear told him
GG did not enjoy the show. Bad match,if you ask me.

The Detroit crowd loved Geils, but Giant? Not so much....

Track 01 is just what it says. It's a tiny radio ad that was broadcast
sometime prior to the show on a Detroit radio station. The taper was
apparently pretty excited about his upcoming Gentle Giant excursion
and even taped the ad. And quite an excursion it was! Turns out he
saw GG not only in Detroit, but also in Flint, Michigan two days
later, and Toronto the following January. Along the way, he got to
sit in on a couple soundchecks, interview some of the guys, and even
eat dinner with them once. Not bad for a 16-year-old kid!!

Any Detroit area residents here want to offer a guess as to what
radio station this ad might have been on?

The taper held onto the tape for quite a while, but finally agreed to
burn it onto a CD for me just a few years ago. I have no idea if he
subsequently gave copies to anyone else, and I myself probably only
gave it to a couple folks since then. Sadly, the taper has since
passed away.

This one's for you, Steve.
