sound: awful, BUT...this is a truly historic recording. Why? Well, here's the story according
to Jack S. who kindly supplied me with the recordings: we know about the great show (which
appeared on DIME, but I couldn't find it; it might be off the tracker. Some of the tracks from
this show were officially released). However, until recently, the encores which were played
that night seemed to have been lost forever. But they have now surfaced and are presented
here for – what I think is – the first time.
The band played on the occasion of the US Bicentennial celebrations. They played up until about
midnight (hence, The Midnight Hour), and then - at midnight - they played "Happy Birthday"
to the US.
As said above, the sound is awful, but there seems to
be just this one source! I'm hoping that somebody out there – and I know there are loads of
great sound wizards out there – can download these songs and perform a minor miracle with
them. If so, please re-upload them with improved sound. Thank you kindly!
