a this and that, what about George? production.
do not sell this recording.
not if you're the duke of Earl,
the duke of Genesis,
or even the duke of George (Washington).
share freely, losslessly and gaplessly.
this recording has several interruptions in it for various reasons,
including at least a few tape flips, changes and accidental shutoffs
or interruptions of the recording. it is probably most of two sets,
since most sets at the Jazz workshop were about 50-70 minutes each,
and almost every show there had an early and late set.
both the masters and the 1g reel copy of this were probably erased long ago.
this recording has never been circulated digitally afaik, and probably
not much on tape either because it is cut up, but there's some pretty
fusey/funky type music in here that will probably interest some.
there is a show from NY with somewhat similar music in it, that is officially available,
but that one has a much larger band in it. this show was definitely all recorded from this
one night's performance in Boston (Jazz Workshop shows were typically from 2-4 nights in a row
2 sets each night, for every artist who played there) I attended this concert
and have very limited memory of it, but I believe it was not a large band, probably between 3-5 members.
the NY show had several more than that, incl. several backing vocalists, and is not an audience source.
George Duke was touring 2 (studio) albums in 1977- From Me to You, and Reach for It, both released on Epic/CBS Records.
some of those songs are probably included in this performance.
