Showdown on M Street: "When George Thorogood and the Destroyers launched into "Madison Blues" in the second set at the
Cellar Door Thursday, it was a signal (relayed by the light man) for The Nighthawks, playing across at Desperado's, to strike up
the same tune. Midway through, Thorogood, guitar in hand, bolted out the M Street exit to meet Jimmy Thackery, also carrying
his weapon. The two stopped traffic for a couple of minutes, never missing a riff, then kept moving - Thackery into the Cellar
Door to join the Destroyers, and Thorogood into Desperados." [Eve Zibart, "The M Street Shuffle," Washington Post, August 04,
1978]
