This is a great show, one of the best Giant Sand shows I've been to.
Billed as Howe Gelb & Friends there was an opening set by Maria Timm (doing everything by herself, as quiet as intense music employing a lot of loops), than Howe started solo, by and by accompanied by the rest of the band, including Maria Frank (of the "Listener" band) for 2 songs.
Thus the show had a great buildup, the setlist perfect with a nice choice of covers (esp. "Sin City" stands out) cumulating in a prevision of the "proVision" record, which was not out yet.

We did both aud. and sbd. recordings, but the audience had to be sacrificed 'cos we realized that we had not brought enoung md's - it was only used to patch the gaps by change of md. And it's a md recording, not lossless, but that's of interest only for the purists, as the sound quality is very good, the musical quality outstanding.

Maria Timm's opening set is included, it fit's on the first CD (if you want to burn to cd you just have to put it in right order).

Giant Sand will be touring in August, this time as Giant Giant Sand with a big band of up to 12 musicians supporting the "Tucson" country rock opera, out on Fire Records June 11:
