An up close and intimate recording, with a fair amount of banter and storytelling in addition to the music.

New Market Cabaret was located at 415 S. 2nd Street, near Pine Street. Will Smith (the actor) bought the building for $3.5 million and tore it down to build a W Hotel, which was never built. Scott-Heron played the final show at the Cabaret, with a number of his long-time sideman and collaborators. This was the 8:00 early show, followed by a 10:30 final performance.

After the hotel project fell though, a three story building was erected and the old Cabaret address is now a plastic surgeon's office. What would Gil have said?

Enjoy!
