Gil Scott-Heron and the Amnesia Express
Biddy Mulligans
Chicago
2-13-87

most likely my cass is 2nd gen from the sbd, which i made from a phillips home burner into a cd, then copied that cd so that eac would like it...
biddys was a great little club--held maybe 150 or so--on chicago's north side which, while biddys was open, was home to tons of gang/drug related activity. they would have only the occasional show, and an eclectic mix at that. it always puzzled me why anyone would play there--aside from the dangerous surroundings and the small room, the shape of the room was a very narrow rectangle with the stage in the middle of one of the long sides and a bar going thru the middle lengthwise. basically, you could sit at the bar turned around, and there were about 8 people standing between you and the stage. anyhow, i saw a really strange mix of shows there, from david bromberg's big band to taj mahal back to leon russell and then phish?
