Gillian Welch & David Rawlings
'Treasures' (live, un-released, rarely played, originals)
1996-2007

Some titles are just guesses or made up by the taper. I've made great effort not to include anything that's been
released or made available on (gillianwelch.com). There is currently available exclusively at her site for download,
'Music From The Revelator Collection' and 'Singles And Bonus Tracks'. Both are amazing and include previously
unreleased covers. I'm working on two more collections of covers and traditional songs. There is also the new CD,
'Boots No. 1 The Official Revival Bootleg, which does includes previously unreleased original material. None of
which appears on this collection. I'm sure there are more original songs that would fit into this category not included
in this collection. I'd love to hear them myself and have seen several on lists. If any tracks can be attributed to another
songwriter please post a message, IM me, or let me know somehow. Many songs have been attributed to Gillian that
are old traditional folk songs or an Apalachian adaptation of a traditional song as well as numbers recorded by the
Carter Family. 'I'd Rather Be A Single Girl' is actually called 'Single Girl Married Girl' and was recorded by the
Carter Family long before Gillian or most of us were even alive and made popular by Joan Baez in the 1960's. If you
know the actual title of track 16, I'd like to know that as well. Tracks 8, 11, 12, 13, and 15 have an old traditional
feeling about them. After hours of searching I couldn't attribute any to traditional or other sources. Her writing has
always made me feel like she lived in another time so hopefully that's the source of my feeling. What initially drew
me to her work roughly 20 years ago was hearing her capture the essence of drug addiction from the perspective of a
Civil War veteran (Morphine and I've Been Down Before). Enjoy!

Source: This collecion combines material from DAT's and CD's as well as many torrents. I've included info
regarding Audience or Soundboard. Actual lineage exists for most but not all tracks. If you want to know, ask me.
Keeping the dates, venues, and other information straight was a challenge. The version of Knuckleball Catcher from
Bonnaroo, I worked on for hours removing the bleed of the Tool show on the other stage while trying to preserve the
integrity of the recording. It is, in my opinion quite amazing, especially her vocal work at the end showing clearly
her range and ability to match David's guitar skills with her voice side by side.

Processing:
CD's > EAC wave 16/44 > WavePad Sound Editor (fades, and tracking) > encoded to flac(level 8) and aligned
on SB's(pad) w/ TLH
DAT's > wave 16/44 w/ M-10 > USB to Windows 7 > WavePad Sound Editor (tracking, and fades) > encoded to
flac(level 8) and aligned on SB's(pad) w/ TLH
Torrent flac files > WavePad Sound Editor (remastering w/ NR, fades) > new checksums and ffp's generated w/ TLH

Thanks to all the tapers and traders whose combined contributions made this collection possible. Consept, processing,
and designs by DG Hale aka Jayhawker. Support the artists. David's new album, 'Poor David's Almanack', is out and
availableon vinyl. It is quite good. The 'Harrow And The Harvest' is also now available on vinyl.

Remastered by dg hale to remove the bleed from the performance (Tool) on the adjacent stage that stomped all over
this one. After seeing the set list and the guest on mandoline, it was worth the hours put in to make this as good I could.
Sounds nice. Much thanks to Duain, the taper, for sticking it out in spite of the situation and making this available.
