Recording Notes:
- I brought my regular main stealth rig (Zoom H4n w/CA-14s and a CA9100 pre-amp)...but for
some reason, something told me to bring the H1 too, just as an "in case of emergency"
back-up. It was a good thing I did because after I got home after the show and listened to
both recordings, it became obvious that there was a loose connection somewhere in the chain
of the main rig, rendering the recording unlistenable and unsalvageable, peppered with static
and what sounds like electrical interference. So as much as I know most folks frown upon the
random gorilla recording made without decent mics from inside a shirt-pocket...this is all I
have to offer to commemorate this amazing show involving two of the hottest piano players of
the 21st century new school of jazz. Although my wife thought I was being a bit obsessive by
bringing both recording devices, its times like these where a taper's obsession can sometimes
save the day...ENJOY!
- I had an exuberant out-of-town jazz fan sitting next to me for the 1st set. His enthusiasm
can occasionally be heard throughout the 1st set but it's not overbearing at all. And much to my
relief, he must have found better seats to float to for the 2nd set, so there is na'er a peep
during set 2. I was also able to better position the recorder from my shirt pocket to down by
my feet, which took advantage of the open rail design of my front-row balcony seats. So the 2nd
set sounds a little better than set 1 as a result.
