A JUHAB RECORDING PROJECT #23
---

Rec. Info:
Aiwa CM30 mic -> Sony WMD6 -> master cassette (Maxell XL90) -> playback on NAK DR3 (WAV 16/44) -> HD -> Sdcard -> my HD -> Audacity (edit/remaster) -> WAV 16/44 -> TLH8 -> FLAC ->
DIME -> YOUR EARS AND MIND...on Herzberg vibes!
Recored by JUHAB with the Aiwa CM30 mic pasted up on the steel construction of the soundboard tent. Unfortunately a lot of chatters, rumblings and other unusual occurances marring
this recording to a "just for fans and those who have been there" (or other Burg Herzberg Fanatics like me) tape. Anyway all thanks to JUHAB for taping and sharing!

This tape need a little bit of research as it is not listened on the vintage Burg Herzberg site. Luckily our dear taper could provide a little light.
1998 was the first year that Burg Herzberg Festival (or "The Holy Mountain" as we "disciples" lovingly call it) moved from its original place (a wonderful alleyed lawn very close to
the castle) to its still common ground on the other side of the valley due to the massive increased ticket sales. Whereas my first in 1995 might've had about 2000+ visitors, it grew
constantly to the app. 5000-7000+ in 1998. Since es stop at 12500 official attendance. Though I think sometimes there are some more, but it is still a wonderful relaxed atmosphere.
Maybe it's because of that I do my annual pilgrimage, getting my ticket long before the first band is announced, just to be there, meet good friends, enjoying the superb food supplies,
freaking out (and taping, of course) fabulous music acts of all different styles and doing something we say in german: "Die Seele baumeln lassen". So this year is my 20th anniversary,
and my 19th "wednesday to monday" fun experience. LONG LIVE THE HOLY MOUNTAIN!
As since a lot of years the music starts on thursday, back in the early daze it usually started on late friday afternoon until early sunday evening. A new setting on a new place proved
a challenge to the soundcrew in that particular year. So they decided to make a full run-through with a band as kind of "official soundcheck".
GOLDEN BUDDHA, a three piece psychedelic rock band from Los Angeles, California, who were to open the friday evening (following the usual FREAK CITY BAND (local musicians jamming)),
jumped on that chance and did a full show - much to the dislike of the soundcrew who expected just half an hour or so...legendary memories of a Grateful Dead Soundcheck at Watkins Glen
on July 27th 1973 come to mind. But beware...this sounds just like "soundchecking" with all warts and all..but the band seemed to enjoy it and played and played and played...
The "official" show from friday early evening will follow soon, and - as I'm told - they played a third time on the smaller "Freak Stage" on saturday as well...
Join in some indian influenced "MANTRA ROCK" from the city of angels...SB.
