Well You Needn't personnel: Gordon Stone: banjo Jamie Masefield: mandolin Stacy Starkweather: bass Here's some classic Gordon Stone, with his short-lived trio featuring Jamie Masefield and Stacy Starkweather. I can't remember whether this was one of the gigs where the Schoeps were present ... I don't think I had my Sony condenser mic yet, so it might have been any number of borrowed mics. There may or may not have been a DAT in the chain. At the beginning of track 8, you can hear Jamie talking to a kid in the front row, who tells Jamie he's 12 years old. That kid would be 26 now, maybe he's out there picking some mandolin somewhere! The between song banter towards the end suggests there's more to this gig than heard here ... it's possible that additional songs may exist on my master cassettes back in Vermont that for some reason didn't make the CD transfer in 2004. In the meantime, here's a solid CD's worth of vintage Stone.
