A Doodee Music Master Recording

"If it's a DOODEE, you know it's the SHITŪ"
- Stripeydave 2008

Here's one smokin' Mule set cranked out underneath Winston-Salem's Big Top. I have a hard time coming up with many groups that had a true musical master on every instrument as the Mule did. The thing that set them apart - they also had SOUL. Some bands have guys that can play technical circles around most of the other musicians out there but they can't seem to combine it with that human, emotional edge that, for me anyway, completes the connection. Warren Haynes, Allen Woody and Matt Abts are (unfortunately, was, in the case of Woody) all musical virtuosos that could also find the soul and emotion in the music to take it up a notch. Listening to this show will remind old fans and educate new ones of how creative and inventive a bass player Woody was and reinforce what a senseless loss it was when he left us. Some really nice covers here including the obligatory Beatles spot (Woody loved 'em). Also some Dylan and Cream. This recording is exceptional as The Mule is a taper friendly band and the tiered balconies at Ziggy's insured the rig was set up in a prime spot for recording with minimal crowd noise. Raise one to Woody and y'all enjoy!
