show notes: this was a show on my 26th birthday, I believe, and was smack dab in the middle of a 2 week taping trip honoring such. in 2 weeks, in 8 states, 4 Mule, 5 Blues Traveler, 2 Stones, and 2 Pearl Jam (opening for Stones) shows were taped, along with the final two shows ever held at the original Aladdin Theater in Vegas before they blew the fucker up the last day. Janes Addiction and Motley Crue, back to back. good effing times!
all that said, for this Mule show, I'll just let the music do the talking. a bit bigger of a venue (capacity near 1000) in a much smaller-than-normal town made for a bit more cavernous sound, but the band took it right to the throats of those who were there. the crowd that showed up really did dig it. this show was most memorable for my getting to meet for the first time in person the wizard of all things Black Crowe, that being "Mr. Boa McClain", at the end of the show when Mule was loading up in the back. it was just a few minutes of post-show blah-blah in passing, but over the years we became pretty good friends. (at least that's what I tell myself to feel better, haha).
immediately after this show we drove, thru snow at the end, all the way to Minneapolis. yeah, 500 miles, overnight, for Blues Traveler, only to bail on paid for Traveler tix in Milwaukee the night after that to go see the Mule instead in Sioux Falls (already uploaded)....sadly, I lost interest in both bands when they each lost their bass player due to death, though the '02 Fall Mule tour still gets regular spins around here, due to the eclectic sets and rotating bass players (Dave Schools was a monster filling in for Woody)....ok, enough ramblebabble from moi, I believe this show has been on some request lists, so let me know what you think! big thanks to april8 for the upload, hopefully you diggity!
