Der Ursprung dieser Band geht auf das 1980 erschienene Album "Gravitiy" von Fred Frith zur�ck, das zweite Solo-Album unter seinem Namen. Die Musik von "Gravity" wurde damals als �avant-garde dance music� beschrieben und gilt heute als Schl�sselwerk f�r Frith' Musik. Einige Musiker_innen der San Francisco Bay-Area, wo Frith am Mills College unterrichtet, konnten ihn �berreden, dieses Album wiederaufleben zu lassen. The Gravity Band spielt das ganze Album - erg�nzt um weitere St�cke aus dieser Zeit. Zum ersten Mal live gespielt, bekommen die St�cke ein ganz neues Leben. Sie sind zwar nah am Original, haben aber neue Arrangements und mehr Raum f�r Improvisation. Die Musiker_innen der Gravity Band geh�ren zum Besten, was die Westk�ste der USA zu bieten hat. Mit dabei u. a. die Gitarristin Ava Mendoza, die sich am Festivalmontag mit ihrer eigenen Band vorstellen wird.
