comments:
this was a national broadcast, probably just a few days
before or after their 1984 Santa Barbara concert appearance
on King Biscuit Flower Hour (which may be the one they released
officially, this one isn't.) this is the "Kihntagious" tour.
I can't give Greg high marks for his album titles, but by this
time he was a pretty good rocker. He had played this club
several times before and apparently liked it alot (says so
in a pre-show interview, track 2). worst that could happen is
played for the 1st time live, one of the 1st times for "the rock".
Greg is from California, and currently a radio DJ in San Jose.
there are a few minor broadcast problems in the interview,
a couple in the concert, nothing too disturbing or lasting,
the concert came out well. WHJY was not very near me, fortunately
their signal was pretty strong in 1984. (alot stronger than WAAF's
in 1974 or WCUW at any time). I didn't notice any FM reception static,
or static in the music either. The band sounds tight and having a
good time which is what rock and roll is all about.
I think my 3 Kihntology posts are all pretty good playing, and that
some folks would like to hear them. This is the second post, following
1985, and with 83 to follow, if all goes according to plan. This
may be the best for inspiration of crowd and band, they were into a
good time which was had by millions in this nationwide broadcast
(over 100 stations were involved in carrying it.) Oddly WBCN didn't
carry this, even though they did carry the year before (part III
coming up in my live Kihntology trilogy) and at least 2 before that
in 78 and 79. Greg Kihn actually goes back as far as 1976 (Paul's Mall!)
so he's hardly a kid (he just looks like one, in a good way).
do not sell this recording.
Trade freely and losslessly.
anything less would be Kihntamination
(which is a Federal crime in all 50 U.S.)
