Went to see the Blue Eyed Soul guys at the Garden State Arts Center (aka PNC Bank Arts Center). It was my first time seeing them live and all due to the free lawn tix from Ticketmaster. I then shelled out $10 for seat upgrades (as we walked in) and we had some pretty good seats with an almost dead-center view. This was one of those hit after hit after hit shows, where everyone knew all the songs and sang along. Hall and Oates have a very appreciative audience which was in full voice for most of the show.
That said, I didn't think the sound was great. Either the mix was wanting or it had to do with the open air acoustic properties of the ampitheater. I've been to lots of shows at this venue but they were pretty much all hard rock/metal shows. I think this one required a bit of nuance which wasn't present (imho) this night. My Lumia (and the fantastic built-in HAAC mics) did a great job of capturing what I heard from my spot (a bit bass heavy with the other instruments down in the mix). Still an ejoyable listen but please let me know what you think.
