I adjusted the amplitude as follows:

Left channel (no adjustment)

Left channel (fades from +6db to +3db)
Right channel + 1db
i.e., on Side 1 of the master cassette, the Right channel was increased by 1db
and the Left channel unaltered, except for a 1 minute section at the end, where
a couple of changes were applied in order to mitigate some dropouts.

At the begining of side 1 I reduced some microphone handling noise with a bass
filter, but afterwards I added some (different, copied from the very start
of the recording) bass back in in order to smooth the sound. This is a subtle
change, but makes the filtering that was used to remove the extraneous noise
less obvious. (Some microphone handling noise remains).

Used Adobe Audition de-click tool to remove a minor "thump" - probably
