This was originally described as: Man / Flying Aces / Help Yourself, Sportspalast, Berlin, Winter 1971
An article in "The Welsh Connection" #12 (see included scan) entitled "Foreign Radio & TV Appearances" describes it as:
German radio 1972 (unknown duration)
Performed: Unknown (see comments below)
Line-up: Malcolm Morley (vocals, keyboards, guitar), Richard Treece (guitar), Dave Charles (drums), Deke Leonard (guitar, vocals), Martin Ace (bass, vocals), George Ace (guitar, vocals) and Tony 'Plum' Hollis (vocals)
This was a live broadcast from a late 1972 Berlin Spoprtspalast gig where the Helps wrre augmented by various Welsh luminaries. Songs thought to have been played by this ensemble include 'Mona', 'Manillo', 'Reaffirmation', 'Eddie Waring' and '7171 551'.
Another description:
"From what I have been able to piece together about the Sportspalast Berlin 'Winter 1971' tape it seems that this was really a Help Yourself gig from late 1972 when Deke was with them, and Martin was there too as a precursor to 'Happy Days'. Plum Hollis (vocals) is also in there somewhere. The first track is labelled on my tape as the Flying Aces (line-up unknown), with the rest by Help Yourself (Morley/Charles/Treece/Burton) augmented by Deke (definitely), Martin?, and Plum? There was supposed to have been a German radio broadcast of this, but I've never come across a copy. Unless it was a better sounding version of this audience tape that was used."
