Final show on the UK leg of the current tour supporting their most recent album: House In The Woods. My 1st time seeing the band, who I had not heard of previously .... but they are a really excellent modern-blues rock band; highly recommended! Their version of Fleetwood Mac's "I Loved Another Woman" was worth the entry on its own (including an authentic Peter Green out-of-phase Les Paul tone ... NICE)!!!!

The Cellars is a small 140 capacity pub venue with a tiny low stage. I was the 3rd one into the venue on the night so managed to get a stool to sit on right in front of the stage ... see photos to see how close up we were! Accordingly my recording is up front & personal with a great tight sound as would be expected from right in front of the band.

This was the 1st time I got to use my Xmas present to myself, the super-duper Olympus LS-14, to record a gig, which performed perfectly & has yielded great if not excellent (IMHO) results... & that in spite of the band being overly loud for such a small venue.

For those interested - basic details of the mastering applied to my original LS-14 recording (using Wavelab6 & HarBal) are as follows:
(a) EQ / Compression / Limiting (-0.6dB max)
(b) fade ins & outs
(c) track split

A note for any finicky audiophiles out there:
Mastering has been done to polish the raw master recording with the aim of enhancing the listening experience. If you prefer virgin recordings, unspoiled by any such amateur 'dabbling' then do not join in on this one. Be warned now ... I don't want any whingeing! ;-)

But for the rest of you Dime'ers I recommend that you GO FOR THIS ONE ... you won't be disappointed!
I score the sound quality as 9 out of 10 ( = A- ); but hey! ... don't flame me if you don't agree ... & at least keep it friendly ;-)

If you have any comments, whether positive, negative or otherwise, I would love to read them ... don't be a lurker!
