HOWLIN WOLF - Live At Big Dukes In Chicago, IL.
Saturday June 20th 1970. 3 1/2 hrs-ish.
--------
These are from the WAV files as I got them a few + years back.
Received in Trade CDR from 2nd gen Reels?> unknown equiptment to WAV> CDR >
amped up 5% via Audacity> Flac via Traders Little Helper to You

-----------
Recieved in Trade Years ago by a Now assumed Deceased trader.
These Recordings are also NOT IN TRADING Circles -
Only few people over the years seemed to have had copies, & I mean a dozen at best.
This is the 1st Time in Public Circulation ever.

This copy here is probably 2nd gen maybe 3rd gen from the master reels most
likely and assumed to be personally recorded by legendary Blues producer & writer Dick Shurman.

This recording is 44years old, Tapes like these should be shared with the fans.
The hassle to try and release them officially would be such a frustrating task.
Between the editing, mastering and tweaking (Thats the easy part) and then, the RED Tape to
to go through all the royalty channels for such small profits would be so not worth it.. I guess?? I Dunno.

I suppose they can do the official "Bootleg" type series but again, the RED TAPE...
The Historical value recordings like this sadly, will NEVER make the money they may have say? In the 80s or 90s but???
The Record industry is sadly dead.... If The record Companies didnt go with the Manufacturing of the CD/file format, which
allowed anyone with a computer to copy it, insert it in an email and freely send it to 15,000 people in 2 seconds,
Recording Music very well may still be an Industry but.... They destroyed themselves.. Gawd its sad. Somebody pass me a tissue.. Uhg!

What was I saying?? Oh yes, Basically, The cats who have these recordings..
Share them please, It would Greatly improve the Outlook on The BLUESWORLD itself,
The personal tapes of the Chicago artists of the 60s & 70s are such Historical Documents.
The Musical enrichment that Can be added to the Blues world by letting more recordings loose to freely share is
only a Good thing. If you have recordings of Greats from the bygone eras of the 60s & 70s,
lets hear them, at least To pay respect to the Artists that have left us,
To learn as musicians and for more people in the world to enjoy the REAL DEAL and go "WOW"
----------
Whoops, sorry bout that.. Back to this recording...

It was difficult in deciding how & what the breakdown of Sets were here, So My Tracking is just an educated guess.
It seems they did smaller shorter sets vs nowadays doing 1hr or more style sets??? I Dunno?
Most Titles are from Head and should be mostly accurate but, do correct me if I am wrong.

So forgive me if you don't agree on the tracking.

Also, The Quality is overall, very very good - all things considering, Its Fookin excellent - in my head.
It is a bit weird and probably has pops, Cracks & a little hissy here & there as well.
But its audience miked to near Soundboard clarity.

Wolf seems a bit tired this evening, maybe he had a cold???
Maybe he just got off the Road but, Its all Good Baby! Look at that Setlist?
It's all a little loose nonetheless.
The atmosphere is cool. In a bar/club in Chicago in 1970, Nice!

And then we get Johnny Littlejohn sittin in wWolf on "Dust My Broom"???
Johnny Littlejohn wThe Wolf?? Oh Yeah! I'm sure that stuff happened all the time though.

ENJOY, and Be Merry that shows like this DO exist, I nearly crapped my pants when I first got it
(& the others that came in that 1 time aquisition)
I can't thank enough the late "So & So" for sharing his copies with me.
Oh to be in my 60s vs 40s Now...

(PS: Does anyone have any early mid 80s recordings of JOHN WATKINS out of Chicago, would love some
solo shows wGrady on Drums & Exum on Bass but, anything with him when they were Jimmy Johnsons Band would Rock too)

Other Than Hubert of Course On Gtr, I forgot to note who else is on here,
I'm sure He introduces that Cats sometime. & Johnny Littlejohn is on the Last 2 numbers.
So in His Honor, Long Live The Wolf.
