ARTIST: Humble Pie (Tracks 1-5) & Peter Frampton (Tracks 6-9)
TITLE: King Biscuit Flower Hour pre-FM Broadcast Disc Remastered + Declicked
DATE: May 25th, 1973 - Humble Pie
The exact date for this performance was not provided with the source of this recording but given this was the farewell performance of Humble Pie at the Spectrum and the year was definitely 1973, according to setlist.fm (http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/humble-pie/1973/the-spectrum-philadelphia-pa-4bceeb22.html), May 25th was the date of Humble Pie's performance at that venue. This is not a definitive date as it cannot be confirmed with 100% accuracy but I'm going with May 25th until someone can confirm otherwise.
1976 - Peter Frampton

TRANSFER/EDITING NOTES:
Taken from a disc containing pre-FM recordings broadcast by the King Biscuit Flower Hour, the source of this recording is undoubtedly, quite good. The mix is not perfect with perhaps a big too much hi-hats and cymbals in general for my liking with loud vocals and quiet guitars. There are also a fair amount of anomalies throughout the recording including clicks, tics, minor dropouts and distortion at the higher register of the input signal. These noises are much more prevalent during the Peter Frampton section of the recording.
My attempt at remastering this recording was done in order to remove the more noticeable clicks, tics, dropouts and other anomalies that are scattered throughout as well as adjust the frequency spectrum to my own personal liking. As such, this remastered recording is not to be considered a definitive or superior version to the original source but instead an alternate version, to be enjoyed by those whose auditory preferences are similar to mine.
In order to remove the clicks and other anomalies mentioned, I individually selected each affected section, and removed each noise using the Adobe Audition auto heal function. This was quite an arduous process and yet not every anomaly has been removed, only the more noticeable anomalies.
There were a few very short sections of the recording where dropouts, or an empty or dead space occurs in the middle of a track. I made an attempt to remove the ones I noticed without affecting the nearby audio content.
As far as the frequency spectrum is concerned, I made an attempt to bring some more clarity to the overall sound of the recording by taming certain frequency ranges by no more than -2.2dB while boosting other frequency ranges by no more than 2.5 dB. Some sections are a bit bright as the mix changes throughout the recording but the majority of the recording sounds more balanced to my ears.
Of course I also seperated the tracks that were bulked together with 1 track for Humble Pie and 1 for Frampton into 1 song per track. I also deleted the calibration tone that was included with the original recording.
Other than the removal of the previously mentioned anomalies done individually on a case by case basis, no noise reduction or compression/limiting has been used in remastering this recording.
That's it for the details. I hope you enjoy the stellar broadcast and performances!
