For an extensive introduction to the Hussy Hicks go to Leo Lonetaper's upload of Alex recording of the Berlin show 2008:

Thus prepared I was expecting a lot, but expectations were surpassed:
Leesa Gentz DOES have a great voice and Julz Parker IS a very gifted guitarist, two very different personalities, but a great match, perfectly playing together, effordlessly switching from sentimental moods to outright fun.
Their musical range covers folk, a bit of soul, country, sometimes with an ironic twist (like yodeling for a minute for a Waterkant audience as far removed from the alps as a white shark from Ayers Rock). Very nice covers too, Both "Piece Of My Heart" and "Ghost Riders" certainly covered pretty often, but two definately worthy versions here

Not a minute was boring, and a long show it was.

The Music Star is a small club in Norderstedt, a city north of Hamburg, rather a suburb, but it hosts one of the most interesting little clubs in the region, where people like Mark Eitzel and Steve Wynn like to come and play shows with the charme of living room concerts - the only club I know where there is no fixed admission charged but where you deposit your share in a couple of strategically placed piggybanks.

An audience of ca. 50 people, all listening attentively, no chatter - the recording turned out nice.

I missed about one minute of the first encore, must have touched some button inadvertently, part of "Texas", you'll notice at 2:30 after the "artistic pause", patched it together as good as possible.

Or better see them live, they have a few more gigs and will be back in autumn.
