Some of you may know J Roddy Walston And The Business - If you don't I'll venture to say you really need to. I love it when a new band I discovered via ye olde internets holds serve when I get a chance to see 'em live. To me (and all of us on these sharing sites) live performance is where it's all made or broken. J Roddy delivered the goods as you will hear.

I gotta say I wrestled for a while with the best way to describe this band to folks unfamiliar with them. At face value it's really easy to make a few comparisons and pick out some influences - sometimes J Roddy's vocals remind me of Kevn Kinney of Drivin' N Cryin', you can hear Jerry Lee Lewis in his keys, there's a definite overall blues/gospel influence, Billy's slide work has southern forefathers written all over it and there's just a flat out rock and roll party atmosphere to their music. But there was something else in there that took me a while to put my finger on. I listened to this show three times today and finally it hit me - these guys have a definite Brit glam rock influence. It's not worn on their sleeve, you gotta pay attention, but it's there. I'll go out on a limb and say J Roddy and his band heard some Ian Hunter and Mott The Hoople records at some point. For me, that influence oozes out. I can even hear some Queen in some of the harmonies. See whatcha think. I may be totally out on a limb here. Either way I think many folks will appreciate this band.

This recording came out really nice as is par for the course in The Visulite Theatre. Great room, great staff. This is definitely a recommended headphone listen with a very nice soundstage to enjoy. Samples are included. Use the democratic process and cast your vote accordingly. Y'all enjoy.
