::: SUPERB stereo AUD for it's vintage. Check samples to ascertain distain or desire.
::: Warts: Repaired dullspots & dropouts but mighta missed a few. Taper cut deck 'tween some songs. #09 has some clapping left in bass solo & cuts after ~11mins.
::: CONTRAST CLAUSE: This is a REMASTER of Doinker's original "Mk1" upload. Re-seed at www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=555655
::: CONTRAST CLAUSE: This is the Mk4 remaster with a SUPERB NEW EQ setting. The Mk3 remaster with inferior EQ is www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=618593 & should be deleted.
::: CONTRAST CLAUSE: This is the Mk4 remaster with a SUPERB NEW EQ setting. The Mk2 remaster without EQ is at www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=618592
::: *DATE* Prior uploads said 1971-08-13 but various lists & DIME's expert gv0000 place the band in El Paso,TX that day.
::: Original upload had a song at the end that was actually War, one of the opening acts on 1971-10-15.
::: Along with War, the other opening act was Edgar Winters White Trash.
::: The band played San Bernardino the 15th, Bozeman, MT the 16th & back to Long Beach, CA the 17th (crazy!).
::: My apologies that my original uploads had a date discrepancy. This contains all the correct date info.
::: 1971-05-15 NYC Carnegie Hall gig was 5 months before this & was issued as "Live In Concert" in October.
::: Wikipedia says "Live In Concert" was issued in December but during Toronto 1970-10-30 Joe says it was already out.

NEW Nk4 VERSION NOTES: Immediately after uploading my James Gang remasters, I got a new differential EQ program from hendrixfan1995, available at https://github.com/HENDRIX-ZT2/DifferentialEQ. Out of the first 6 or so attempts with different artists, the most astonishing BY FAR was this set. Using a "baseline" target EQ curve derived from "Walk Away" on the "Live In Concert" album & some dumb beginner's luck, I came up with this new version of San Bernardino. It puts my other EQ attempt to shame. It also involved another complete run-thru to clean up some new issues that arose, but within about 9 hours they were corrected. Tho' there's a bit more hiss brought up in places, like in ""Take A Look Around", what is left is the most intense live unofficial James Gang we have to date - really remarkable. The first 2 minutes of music are the best they've been, but there is still some azimuth variation, then it settles in. It's like a blanket was lifted off the recording & at times you won't know you are listening to an unofficial recording, much less an audience tape from 1971. My 40 year old Bose speakers were ecstatic! TURN IT UP & see if you agree.

Doinker Lineage ::: unknown stereo reel-to-reel recorder & microphones -> stereo master reel-to-reel -> Sound Forge -> pitch correction to commercial releases (as best as possible) -> level 6 flacs via FLAC frontend, sectors aligned & verified. (There were several cuts in the master & some glitches needed to be smoothed over).

DimeTravel Remastering 2018-Mar/April::: flacs from stereo master reel-to-reel tape -> TLH -> wavs -> Audacity [normalisation to remove DC offset, channel/phase alignment (fixed or reduced the effects of the wandering broomstick!), fades, manual one-at-a-time clap reduction & glitch, bump, pop, click, dropout & dullspot repairs, volume adjustments, pitch (speed) left alone - seems to vary a bit but Doinker did good, NO noise reduction, but new EQ differential setting applied] -> CD Wave (track splits) -> flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. First uploaded 2018-04-07.

Line-up ::: Joseph Fidler "Joe" Walsh - electric guitar, Hammond B3 organ, vocals // Dale "Bugsley" Peters - electric bass, background vocals // James Kent "Jim" Fox - drums, percussion, background vocals.

Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.

DimeTravel 414 ::: Thanks to the original taper, & trader, DIMER Doinker! SINCERE thanks to hendrixfan1995 for his EQ program & assistance. ::: Corrections welcome ::: A Walsh-era vintage James Gang series to liven up yr listening choices. This recording is incomplete, but it SMOKES. Will have you re-evaluatin' yr air guitar prowess & head bangin' in fine fashion. Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yrs truly, Knees

Doinker's original notes: "Heavier than your turkey dinner! Coming at you like a lead-plated steam locomotive, this (net weight=very heavy) show features Joe Walsh in his most get-down mode. Seriously, you're gonna need some antacid after swallowing this babe, because the music is just going to sit there for a while after taking it in!" "A note about channel balancing: This concert was recorded with two microphones taped to a broomstick. How they got that along with a not-so-small recorder into the Swing in California (hot weather - no jackets or coats!) during the month of August is beyond me. There were 2 people to make the recording: one to hold the broomstick, one to operate the recorder. The one holding the broomstick didn't always pay attention & the broomstick got rotated during the show - thus the up-and-down levels & changes in clarity. There is a major jump in sound (for a while) after the tape is flipped or shut off after the first 25 minutes. Some thanks are in order here: My son Alex for help with getting the setlist as straight as possible, Ol' DocTinker, for the inspiration to continue putting out these masters (there are more of them, of course), "Mrs. Doinker" for continuing to put up with my "addiction to Dime & that 'damned computer' (she thinks she's lonely sometimes... hmmm...)" & finally to LJ for providing a new set of peepers (LJ is our new cockatiel). Enjoy!! A DoinkerTape"
