Jamey Johnson Truth and tradition. These non-negotiable principles serve as

the bedrock of the music of eleven-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter

Jamey Johnson, who is one of the greatest country singers of our time, accord- ing to The Washington Post.

In the middle of the night I wake awoken to pouring rain around 2:30 AM. I fell back asleep
but when the alarm went off at 4:30 I knew I needed more sleep and wasn't prepared to spend
time in a mud bog. I goy an hour of needed sleep and was up at 5:30, saw the text from Ted
at 2:30 AM and on my way at 6. I arrived around 7 and discovered it hadn't rained in Golden
Gate Park. I found the tarp at Banjo Stage and was ready by 8 for the Emmylou Harris
soundcheck. The early crowd was there as Rodney Crowell comes out and says Emmylou was in LA
for an award ceremony and he was standing in. I recorded the short set then made my way to
Towers of Gold Stage where I planned to start.

The first band up were The Stone Foxes who are a local rock band. I had heard good things
about them and they kicked ass. Defitely got things going to start the day. Next up was Beth
Hart who, like Pokey LaFarge the day before, was worth checking out based on recommendation of
others. I really enjoyed her set. She is a blues singer who plays guitar and sings. During the
set a friend came by to borrow my second rig to record another band. He hadn't taped in years
and I tried to set him up and give him instructions without talking while taping Beth Hart. Once
the set ended I bailed and made my way to Arrow Stage. This is a bit of a hike and I had 25
minutes to walk and make a quick stop at the blue boxes. I arrived at Arrow with 5 minutes to
spare. Jerry McMurtrey was up next. I like him and he didn't disappoint. An old friend came by
and everything went well. Next up was Jamey Johnson who I also enjoyed. Not usually my type of
music but the version of This Land Is Your Land was played really well. Last up was ALO. By now
the crowd had thinned out and I was solo. I did my best to arrange my chair, soft cooler and fence
to maintain a safe spot. For the most part that worked. ALO also played a great set. After the
set I met my friend who borrowed the backup rig to get my gear. Unfortunately he did not succeed.
My Austin friends wanted to meet me for dinner at NOPA but I was just too tired. All in all an
amazing festival and looking forward to next year.
