The intimacy and complicity of a duo: too rarely in Montreal do we get a chance to hear two musicians alone on stage.
From Norway, Jan Garbarek on sax and from Czechoslovakia, Miroslav Vitous on bass. With drummer Peter Erskine,
Vitous has recorded a recent album, Star, which has earned him the praise of critics round the world.
The Garbarek sound is today the symbol of a new ethereal and melancholy genre, strangely like a Norwegian winter.
Not surprisingly, he was chosen to compose the music of his country's presentation at the Albertville Olympic Games.
As for Miroslav Vitous, he is quite familier to Festival-goers. A founding member of Weather Report, Vitous participated,
along with Jean Vanasse, in the production of Nouvelle Cuisine, an excellent Quebec album.
The full round sound of this swinging bass player makes him the perfect complement
