notes:
-another from my archives, this is one of Wes' master recordings I am sure due to hearing his cheering on the tape, the abrupt cuts at the end of each tune
that he used to do to save tape, and the "sound" of his Aiwa recorder - this makes it a 1st gen tape for me. Wes used to get a table as close as possible
and just put the Aiwa right on it and use the internal mics - he was not a quality buff at all - was happy if he could just listen to it 1-3 more times
again and likely never again - luckily a friend and me used to make copies. I used to be picky with his stuff because the sound just wasn't that great,
but this is still quite listenable to: in the "B+/B" range - it's clear, it's just low-quality Aiwa shit.
-Jane in just trio format. I'm not a huge sporano sax fan myself, but Jane is one of the best. Don't know how many people are aware of her/interested in
this, but it's a nice set - the rhythm section is great and Jane just floats over them - gets avant-gard at times too. From early in her career, so
quite rare, although there doesn't seem to be much Jane around ever anyway, so all her recordings are on rare side so to speak.
-unfortunately, Wes begins to cut the ends after the 3rd tune and I couldn't get any other titles, nor any confirmation of who is playing drums and bass.
Wes was a jazz drummer himself and he had his favorites and many times went to see jazz bands because of who was drumming - thus my suspicion is this may
be Joey Baron on drums. My best guess at the bassist is Mark Dresser - if anyone can confirm musicians or titles please let us know.
