How many years has it been since the Jazz Crusaders have played together?
I think the last time Wayne Henderson played with them was in the 1980’s.
So here you are, one of the great super groups of jazz, reunited again
for a single series of concerts at the Northern California Mecca of Jazz, Yoshi's.
This gig catches the Crusaders in a one time reunion gig, playing mainly oldies
from the 1960’s and 1970’s.

Both sets were recorded, but I made this compilation of all the songs performed
that night, in the same order performed, with duplicates removed, picking the best sounding
of the duplicates. I also removed the banter between songs and faded out the applause.
If any of you guys want the full and complete concert, both sets, in their entirety,
then PM me and we'll do a trade. Otherwise, this is what you got. If you don't like it,
then don't download it. Extensive use of compression, fades, and the delete key eliminated
all but the most persistent crowd noise. Again,if you don't like these types of
edits, stay clear of this one.

This is split for a two disk audio disk. A Jewel Case Cover, front and back is included
in the torrent. Samples of the Cover, and some of the tracks are also sampled.
This is a solid "A" Recording by my ears.

Four fun facts about the Jazz Crusaders: (1) First, their first recorded song was a pop hit on
AM Radio in 1961 about the Civil Rights struggle, called “Freedom Sound;” (2) Second, when the Symbionese
Liberation Army aka Donald DeFreeze kidnapped Patty Hearst in 1975, they delivered the ransom
tape recording to the police. On the recording, a Jazz Crusaders song, “Way Back Home,” was prominently
featured in the background, causing the FBI to interview Joe Sample; (3) Third, Wilton Felder played
bass for Barry White on all his hit singles; and (4) Finally, the Steinberg Grand Piano that Joe Sample
plays on this night was specially delivered from New York for this gig, and cost $130,000. It is beautifully
triple miked.
