Jeff Beck Live at Jones Beach, 1999-08-25, from AUD master KILLER SHOW AND RECORDING! *RESEED* mp3 samples included

Bottom line: Yes it's hype. It's also all true. I haven't steered you wrong yet, have I? (Don't answer that!!!)

This was my last analog recording.

This show has languished in my collection since an early transfer to cdr was done in 1999. The recent interest in Jeff Beck had led me to search for another early reel to reel master that I knew was laying somewhere downstairs in my basement. I haven't found that yet, but I do have it in an unknown spot in my collection. When I do find it, you shall have it.

Along the way, I found the cdrs of this show. Listening to it was like a smack in the face, something I apparently need from time to time. This is a GREAT show! It's so clear because the wind had died down and the rains were starting to fall. The Jones Beach Ampitheatre (Tommy Hilfinger be damned!) is an outdoor venue. where the stage is actually out on the water. Those greedy suckers wanted to sell more $250 tickets, so they filled in the area between the bandshell and the seashore and added expensive box seats. We were right behind the boxes, a little to the right of center.

People were leaving right and left during the performance as the weather got bad. No one was standing, and no one was in front of us during the taping of this show. Fortunately the winds didn't pick up until the very end when we were leaving.

Finding the cdr's led to another search for the master cassette. It was eventually located, and a fresh transfer was made without using the PC's soundcard. There's a big difference in the sound quality that way, no matter what the people in Mumbai say (ever try to call Dell service? It's like describing a piece of fruit to someone who has never seen one, but has the directions to it in a book translated from another language).

I digress...

Many, many thanks to Dime member Mesquite, for putting names onto all of the nameless tracks for me. Without him, there would have been no tracklist and no torrent.

I couldn't find any artwork for this torrent. Please feel free to create some!

Mr. Jeff played with the great female guitarist Jennifer Batten. Her guitar was electronically equipped, and she did most of the backup and effects.

Quite a change from backing Michael Jackson, eh Jen?
