remastering notes:
the above is the original info. with this posting not long after
it happened, maybe a couple of months,
the original torrent is no longer on dime tracker.
This was one of my first downloads on dime.
I thought it was a nice recording, (from a master aud) except for one thing-
it was very clappy in parts, to the point where it's alot louder than the music.
Normalizing the files as I usually do won't fix this to my satisfaction. So
I have spent alot of time to reduce the loudest claps
(individually, I call it ICPVR, indiv. clap peak volume reduction)
to allow accurate normalization and balancing of the tracks. I would have
liked to do more than I did to this, it was very clappy, but it's considerably
better than it was, and eight hours of ICPVR is about my limit (even for Jeff Beck.)
This was a nice recording to begin with, I think it's even nicer now
since the applause was very loud and I didn't want to ruin the continuity
of the sound by just reducing the between song applause. Sometimes that
will work, not this concert. It took a long time, I normally remaster about 7
concerts in the time it took to do this one, but I know how seriously
some dimers take their Jeff Beck concerts. This is not something I have time
or interest to do for every clappy aud, but this is Jeff Beck here, and
I find this a considerably more enjoyable recording now that the applause isn't
twice as loud as Jeff is. The taper did a good job, if not, this would not be
worth my effort, because it wouldn't help much.
ICPVR comes in VERY handy with Beck auds. Beck fans are some of the clappiest
in the world but Beck gives plenty of reason for that here. (Hot Beck show.)
If you didn't get it before, or even if you did, this sounds like a very nice Beck
aud now, the continuity has not been lost, just some of the loudest claps are
no louder than the other claps and the levels are balanced more evenly after
normalizing to -1.5 peak for the louder tracks, a little less for quieter tracks,
keeping it proportionate to the original recording. kudos to the taper, did a good
job with this and got a nice clean capture of a nice Beck concert.
do not sell this recording.
trade freely and losslessly.
