Riddle. When is a top quality seat NOT a top quality seat? Answer: at Hamer Hall when you buy from ticketmonster on the net.
I was bit pissed off when my $135 supposedly primo seat was in the circle and BEHIND what , in every other concert hall I have ever been to , have been lower marked seats. Never buy a ticket unless you have a seating plan, as, without one , Hamer hall can bite you on the bum .

So, because I ended up in , what was effectively Row L , this recording is a rather distant and has to be played LOUD in order to get the full effect.

Its probably not quite as good as my 2009 and 2010 Jeff recordings from the Aussie tour, but its more than ok and its a good show. Beth Hart leant a touch of class to the proceedings and a variation in the pretty much otherwise set in stone setlist for this tour. Pity we had to miss out on "Brush with the blues" though. However the inclusion of John Mclaughlin's "You Know You Know" on this tour was a real treat.

Jeff, if you come back to oz, play a better venue, preferably one where the punters can stand and dance if need be , this sitting down lark is crap !

No photos as the ushers played merry hell on anyone who pulled out a camera. Gestapo like doesn't say the half of it. One bloke kept on trying to stop a person with a small camera taking a few photos they were not using a flash. However, they were asked to stop, but after a while they began again when the usher left. The usher returned. they Cat and mouse was then played with each other for the reests of the show, the camera coming out , the usher coming down, the camera being hidden and so on. Eventually an usher was posted to sit on the end of the row watching us all to see if wed were daring enough to get out a camera . Meanwhile down the front some people were busy merrily snapping pics throughout with impunity as long as they didn't use a flash! In the foyer it said no flash photography, in the hall they were clamping down on anyone with a lens upstairs, but not downstairs.

One middle aged lady was booted out of the auditorium for sneaking down the front between the first row seats. she was physically actually hauled out by an usher! However, no knickers were hurled onstage at Jeff during the proceedings :-)
finally, you may hear some slight mic movement towards the end of the show , this was due to one of my legs having a nasty sciatica attack , the only way i could stay in my seat was to clamp the afflicted part with my hands and squeeze , it worked pretty well and eventually i managed to find a position for my leg that limited the pain. The sacrifices we make to get these recordings, I demand a campaign medal :-)
Its a good show - Enjoy !
