And so moving west across Scotland we arrive in Glasgow, specifically at The Ferry, a former ferry which crossed the Clyde between the Yoker district of Glasgow and the town of Renfrew. The stage and main audience floor is on the lower deck, and much of the middle of the upper deck has been removed, so that the upper deck effectively acts as a balcony around three sides of the stage and lower deck audience. The top of the ferry is now covered with a large glass atrium-style canopy. You can seee a couple of pictures on the "About" page of the venue website at http://www.the-ferry.co.uk/theferrywebsite.html
This show has several firsts for the recordiungs of this tour, not all good alas. It's the first show where I only have one recording source. Quite simply there wasn't anywhere I could reasonably have stuck my mic stand without getting in the way of paying punters or it being at risk of coming to grief. It's also the first recording with any technical problems (I think) - there's a drop-out of just over a second in the opening of Somebody To Love. And it's the first show where I've got some of the soundcheck, this time just recorded using the internal mics on my recorder. I didn't get to every soundcheck - sometimes I had other duties precluding my attendance, sometimes I was able to spend the time catching up with friends over a jar or two, and sometimes I just plain didn't turn on the recorder in time when they went from testing individual instruments to playing full songs (alas I didn't capture the version of Misty Mountain Hop at the Edinburgh soundcheck). Anyway, this time you've got nearly twenty minutes of soundcheck stuff, which you might find mildly interesting.
And yes, I'll confess to boosting the volume of one audience member's comment after Frenario, because I thought it was a cool reaction and deserved sharing :-)

And as I sit here at home typing these ramblings, with the rain chucking it down outside, I also remember this day was the first day on the tour that it rained. Now that may not be much in some parts of the world, but I thought 3 successive days in Scotland (two in Kinross, one in Edinburgh) in October without rain was pretty unusual. (In fact the weather in Kinross was almost like the band had brought some northern California autumn weather with them :-)

A word too about the support band, Auburn. Auburn are a band fronted by singer/songwriter Liz Lenten who released an album earlier this year (and another about a decade back). You can find out about the band on their website at http://www.auburn.org.uk/ For the tour they played as an acoustic threesome - Jevon Beaumont playing (electric) bass, Gus (Mark Gustavina) playing acoustic guitar and offering backing vocals, and Liz singing and playing either acoustic guitar or tambourine. For various reasons I never recorded any of their sets, but you can see some footage at http://gonzo-multimedia.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/at-last-some-auburn-video-from-tuesday.html (from the Southampton show - and if you poke around that website you can find some JS footage too). They were fun and friendly folk, and Liz got invited up to sing and dance during Volunteers every night.

Oh yes, I realised that I hadn't included the analysis reports to show no sector boundary errors etc - some places require them if you're going to torrent the the show. So this download also includes those reports for Kinross and Edinburgh - but they're minuscule in size next to the actual flac files.

Finally, a slightly belated Happy Thanksgiving to our American readers!

Suggested track split for CDRs:
Disc 1: t01-13 or 14
Disc 2: t014 or 15-27 plus soundcheck.

An "eightblankseconds" track is included in the download should you wish to introduce a short silent pause between the end of the show and the soundcheck material.
