Jesse Colin Young Live at "Have A Nice Day Studios" Seattle, Washington 1972-02-xx FM Reel-To-Reel (mp3 samples included) GREAT SHOW and recording!

Many Thanks to Bill B. for the tape and the setlist. Way to go guy!

This VERY laid back and leisurely hour-and-a-half was recorded shortly after the breakup of the Youngbloods. It was broadcast on KOL-FM and this tape is a reel-to-reel copy of the transmission taken off the air. Many early JCY tunes are represented, plus some rarities. Every once in a while they crank it up with some surprising arangements

Mr. B wishes you to know the following:

The first appearance in print of "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" seems to have been in 1941 or later, in the fourth volume of Vance Randolph's Ozark Folksongs. He calls it "Can the Circle Be Unbroken". Randolph says that there are variants, but supplies only one tune and one set of lyrics. The folklorist gives no suggestions as to authorship. (Not that Randolph is always on top of things in this regard. He prints the lyrics to "How Tedious and Tasteless the Hours" in dialect, and has nary a clue about the author in that case either, although he could have easily found out by consulting the Methodist Hymnal.) The Library of Congress's copyright renewal database lists "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" several times, never with an author, always as "traditional" or "public domain," though of course particular arrangements may be copyrighted.

Lineage: FM->Reel ->Reel ->Sound Forge 6.0->boost left channel 2db, notch filters at 65, 129, and 172Hz to reduce amplifier hum present in the studio when the set was recorded. No noise reduction used, it came out very clean.

Enjoy!
