Stop Diablo Canyon Benefit

Opened For Bonnie Raitt

Stage Lights And PA Run Off Of Solar Power

The Historic Fremont (Movie) Theater Was Built In 1942

OldNeumanntapr Notes-
(This was the opening set for the Bonnie Raitt show.) This show took place when I was a senior in high school, and was a benefit show to try and stop the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant in Avila Beach, CA. I don’t remember it taking place at the time, but I would have liked to have been there. I’ve looked for a recording of this show for years, and finally found one a couple of years ago. The Fremont is a really cool old Art-Deco styled theater, and holds almost 1,000 people. The interior walls are curved, there are really interesting tapestries on the walls, and the ceiling is very ornate. I’ve seen films there since 1977 and I’ve seen/recorded Los Lobos there twice, and also recorded Tom Russell there in summer of 2015. I also recorded the surf band Honk there, the night of the SLO Film Festival ‘Surf Night’ in 2014 when they showed the cult classic ‘Five Summer Stories’, which Honk did the soundtrack for. This show/recording is pretty rare. Thanks to Dennis Orr for his help with Soundforge post production.
