JCY was in Boston to perform at the Earth Day celebration at the Hatch Shell. The day before the festival, he squeezed in a quick in-store promo performance at what had become Strawberries Records's large (3 floors) flagship store.
PERFORMANCE NOTES
A couple of newer song, then the two obligatory classics. Relatively small crowd.
WARTS
Some taper setup noises (mike bumps, rustling) audible during soundcheck segment (before music starts).
There is some slight midrange distortion evident. I don't think the audio is over-recorded. Since consumer videocameras had no gain control, there was always that danger when recording too close to a loud sound source. But upon inspection, the wave file is not brickwalled. I think the problem may have been the house PA/mix itself. During the pre-performance mike check, you can hear that the soundguy was having difficulties getting a good balance. The distortion is not overwhelming, but it is there.
