this was a really wonderful set of music from jesse and her awesome band. the guitar player, phil wandscher, was an original member of whiskeytown with ryan adams and his playing is just phenomenal. he's found a perfect muse in jesse sykes; her songs allow him to create parts and fills of every stripe imaginable. the bass player, bill herzog, was in a little-known band called citizens' utilities in the 90s. they put out three wonderful albums, "Lost and Foundered," "No More Medicine," and "Sunbreak" (and an early unreleased album called "Top Dead Center"). pick them up in cutout bins everywhere. amazing stuff.
