Jessie Mae Hemphill
Philadelphia Blues Machine (House Party)
Philadelphia Pa
April 4th, 1987

Recording info- Soundboard > Sony PCM-F1(@16bit) > Beta video recorder (please see note below)

Transfer (Philly Crew)- Sony Beta video deck > Modified Sony 601EsD PCM digital out > Edirol R-44 (PCM emphasis decoded in the process)

Final processing (billydee)- 16/44 WAV > Audacity > TLH > FLAC (level 8) > Foobar2000

Please note, to the best of my knowledge this lineage is correct, although I'm a little suspect as there's a little hiss in the quieter parts and I had to do fades where there was a slight cut in the recording. At worst case there was an analog cassette master of the show that was copied onto PCM Beta format.
I wish I made better notes back then, sorry.

But overall, this is an amazing quality recording and what I'd consider a historical document of a real life blues legend.

RIP Miss Jessie Mae...
Enjoy!

This recording is dedicated to Peg and Doug Waltner, the couple that started the Philadelphia Blues Machine and brought so many great blues artists to the area.

And special thanks to Nicky C, WR and the Philly Crew for helping to liberate another one from my archives...
