mixter mentioned The Jesus and Mary Chain show on his recent upload from the Wiltern. My friend went there and recorded it. It is a listenable show - however, be prepared to hear a less than stellar "crisp" recording if you do download this. See the sample I provided.

Some background: nearly 20 Years ago, my friend went to the Wiltern and got busted there. He still gets VERY nervous about taping at that venue, and so he did his best to record this show without the nightmare of what he went thought all that time ago. Unfortunately, the ticket he bought ended up having him next to the ushers who kept walking back and forth by him which made him EXTREMELY nervous during The Warlocks. He said he eventually decided to keep the mic under his chair under his jacket. I guess that's good for stealth taping, but not so good if you want a very clean capture of a band.

I have to admit, this WOULD have been a better setup with the Pocketrak if only he didn't do what he did at the Wiltern with setting it up like that. He's trying out different mics now to see what may work best with that Pocketrak.

Regardless of the end result, I fully understand why he didn't want to go through another problem out there.
