JETHRO TULL
July 10, 1970
Boston Tea Party
Boston, MA

1st gen copy off master reel to reel

--------------------------
There is at least one other version of this show circulating.

After doing a cassette trade with a gentleman many years ago he said, "You know, I think I have an old reel to reel I made of Tull back in Boston." He found it in the proverbial "box" and sent me a cassette copy of it.

THE RECORDING IS INCOMPLETE
It is missing
some of With You There To Help Me,
some of Martin's Solo, and
all of For a 1000 Mothers

The taper shut off his recorder between every song.
If there was more than a second of silence on my tape I removed the silence.
Otherwise, you have the complete tape.

Hope you enjoy it

We're missing about 15 minutes and that would include applause and between-song moments. They were playing about 70 minute sets at the time.

--------------------------
THE SOUND:
Taped from the audience
Typically lousy 1970 sound - very loud music in an echo-y room,
recorded with unknown equipment (he didn't tell me what type of reel to reel he used), with a single mic (yes, its a wonderfully monophonic recording)

--------------------------
THE LINEAGE:
This is the first time this has been traded digitally (by me)
It is possible that the taper gave other copies out and they may have circulated. I don't know.

master reel to reel > cassette > Nakamichi BX-2 > digitize via Audacity > FLAC 8 via xAct

A raw transfer.
No noise reduction or eq was applied.
Tape player (Nakamichi BX-2) azimuth adjustment was done.
