Remaster Notes-
This is a remaster of torrent #196526 located here
http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=196526
This is not to be confused with the remaster that is torrent #198033 located here
http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=198033
Let's see where to start..... Those who have been following this saga from the onset know the story.
The original seed has many problems from the bad tracking, to the speed, to the volume fluctuations,
to drop outs and a whole host of smaller problems that aren't worth mentioning or fixing.
On the first remaster of this show glasnostrd19 made a diligent effort to fix most of these problems, but
to his own admission the speed problem was never fixed properly. I also found his remaster to have a weird phasing
problem that created this echoing effect that came and went. I'm not sure how that happened but it wasn't
inherent to the original upload. So I decided I would try to help out.
My choices were this: I could either try a remaster of the original upload myself or convert one of the
two copies of this show I have on cassette. I have had a copy of this show for years. My original copy has
none of the problems this one has. But the quality is not nearly as good, probably two maybe three
generations higher than this one. The other copy I have has all the same problems that are here. And since
I don't know the lineage of that tape I can only assume my tape is a copy of the Backdoor Angels release.
So I chose to remaster the original torrent #196526.
Before I note what I did here to remaster I need to say one thing. In my opinion the backdoor angels release
has some digital noise reduction applied to it. When turned up you can ever so slightly hear it. That is my
opinion and only my opinion.
As for my remaster, I only chose to fix the tracking, the dropouts and the speed. As for the volume, this is
something I don't like to do for a whole host of reasons I won't get into.
The tracking and dropouts I fixed by converting everything into a single track and then spliting it up the
way I thought it should be split. While spliting it up I removed the drop outs where needed.
As far as the speed this I did by resampling. I do this with a nice little program called r8brain and basically
you resample the track or tracks at a higher or lower rate and then input it back at the original rate. In this
case I resampled at a higher rate which in turn causes the track to run slower. This method is by no means perfect
but the results are pretty good.
So thats about it, I hope I didn't step on anybody's shoes here or offend anybody.
Much thanks should go out to the original seeder Robducati for his effort. And much thanks should also go out
to glasnostrd19 for his work on the first remaster. Maybe the result wasn't perfect but he made an attempt and thats
more than most people do.
And as always Trade Freely and only convert to MP3 for private usage.
