Centrum
Worcester, Mass. U.S.A.

performance quality: B+ inspired show (unfortunately so was the crowd's rowdiness at this show)
audience behavior quality: D- (that may be kind. VERY RUDE, rowdy crowd, lots of pushing and shoving.
This habit changed quickly and all the other Tull- Worcester audiences (84,87,89 and 91)
were very good, considerately enthusiastic, (not rude at all). But not this one!
recording quality: B to B- (mainly due to crowd noise, there's alot of it in here)

lineage: Sony 310 cassette deck (auto level, built in mikes, no dolby to ruin my recording with) >

first seeded in 2008. reseeded (sortakinda) in 2009 with band lineup corrections.
reseeded in 2010 (sortakinda) with a more complete setlist.
the same flac files have been used in all three seeds,
only the info. and md5 have been changed to prevent some confusion (by adding some more).
A you are quite there, but might wish you were somewhere else tullnut production.
(this is the 1st of those kind so far from a posted master of mine, possibly the last.)
cuz you'd have to be a little nuts to record and post this much crowdnoise in an audience tape.
But I know more than a few Tullnuts are a little nuts too (not in a bad way)
and still want to hear my recording, since I haven't seen ANY (other) recording of this fine concert yet,
either on dime or elsewhere.
This may be one case where the auto levelling prevented the crowdnoise from totally ruining my recording.
You can always hear what's going on, the only problem is there's alot more going on than just a good concert...
(all my other Worcester recordings don't have this problem, except maybe Robert Plant 83 not as much.
and just this one Tull show.)
Do not sell this recording.
Trade freely and losslessly.
comments:
Usually when I see a Tull show (I've seen about 15 of them) the crowd is a positive part of the show,
especially in Worcester and Boston. We love Jethro Tull concerts and aren't afraid to let them know it.
this was still in the 1st year of the Centrum, just a couple of months old at this time, and Tull's
1st of 5 inspired enthusiastic shows at the Centrum. I was in my usual (so it seems) spot for this, on
the right side, maybe 7-8 rows back from the floor section and about halfway back from stage.
the band was in a good mood for this show. Ian's between song banter was full of humor and enthusiasm.
I was thinking about trying to move to a floor seat, but that would have made things even worse.
It's nothing unusual to see Tull fans get excited at a concert, but quite unusual to hear them screaming
relentlessly (not just cheering) through Fat Man and a Song for Jeffrey. Maybe during the Loco Breath or
the Aqualung. That's usually the loudest crowd response at a Tull show. This was a Tull show for
the "beastie" crowd all right. Ian's no dope. One of the more acutely aware musicians in rock is Ian Anderson.
He has seen just about every situation in a concert, and I was just BEGGING for him to stop for a minute and say,
listen up, we're seeing alot of pushing and shoving and alot of people are being prevented from seeing and hearing
us play, so settle down a little bit or we'll have to stop playing until you do so everyone can hear the concert.
I've heard Ozzy Ozbourne do that a few times in live recordings (never seen him live). Also Mick Jagger w/Stones.
Unfortunately that never happened, and the "beastie" in this show was almost the whole show (not the song).
Some felt inclined to blame Centrum security for this problem, I say it was up to Tull to try to settle it down
and they never said much about it. What's security supposed to do? (Centrum security was generally pretty good).
It never reached a "riot stage" (or even threatened to) but it did disrupt my enjoyment of this concert considerably.
Since this was Tull's 1st Worcester show, after a mighty Boston Garden legacy, they weren't very used to it yet,
and probably couldn't appreciate this time that the Centrum's sound is alot better than the old Garden, with all
the hollering in the crowd, but the concert itself was a nice show. I tried to hold my deck above the screaming
idiots, maybe it helped a little, not much. I think there's no cut songs in here. This was one of my 1st remasters
AFTER my CD glitching problems were resolved, and it's a good thing, because this remastering was no fun and
if I'd had to do (yet another) new transfer on this it would have delayed this post for quite awhile more.
glasnostrd19 has had enough uploading delays (since 11/06 for all until 2/08), fortunately the waiting is over for
this show.

This reseed is partly because this show doesn't seem to be around. This could be a popular one. It's definitely the
"beastliest" Tull show I've ever attended. (not just for reasons of Tull or this tour.)
As has been true for every Tull show I've ever seen, the current songs were the best performances in the concert, so if
you like Broadsword Tull, you're in luck, good versions here. Good concert in general. Always was with Tull in the
Worcester Centrum. I saw them all. All nice shows, band was inspired every time, including this 1st Tull Centrum show.
Saga opened this concert. I wish I had arrived in time to see them but I missed their set. Too bad because I like Saga,
definitely would have recorded it if I could have. But I did get the whole Tull show. Good one too. (as usual) for Boston
or Worcester Tull show. This was the point where Tull just moved their Boston Garden legacy about 30 miles due west of Boston.
Easier said than done I would think, but if they got the Tull show, Mass. Tullheads will go see. For a sound perspective,
this was a step up for Tull, and it sure didn't hurt the Centrum's concert reputation one bit, for them to play there.
