show notes: this was kind of a surreal 2 day experience. for the first night, I got there a bit late, and there was an opener already on the stage! there was no announcement of such leading up to the show, and when you arrived late, they'd only seat you at the ACPA between songs. so I ended up missing half of the openers set. and both are included here. why? 1. because Steve Poltz (The Rugburns opened) 2. because Jewel would come out at the end of his set to do songs with him, and then seamlessly shift into her set. what blew my mind is that Steve helped build an addition onto my father's lodge in the Alaska Range back when I was a teen, and he was dating a local girl here in Fairbanks. well, longer story short, I tracked him down after the first night and said "hey", 15 years later, met Jewel, blah blah. so for night #2 (which I made sure to be on time for), he actually talked a bit about that experience during his set! and I believe Jewel's mother came out during the 2nd night and sang a couple of songs with her daughter. AND, if I'm not mistaken, these are the ONLY TWO Alaskan recordings of Jewel in existence. when she was in her prime. (she cancelled a NYE set around 2000 at the Sullivan Arena, and I believe she bowed out of our State Fair as well, possibly rescheduling). need I say more? if you like Jewel, you should be pretty stoked with these setlists, and the quality has that nice, warm, analog warmth to it as well. from the master tapes. BIG thanks to smores for the upload(s), and you never know what you may hear next.....

--- ballsdeep OUT!

This show is another "ballsdeep" master. He was kind enough to give some of his masters to be shared in this forum. If you have old masters or low generation cassettes PLEASE contact me or anyone that is willing to work on them to get them out to the collecting community. Thanks.
