Jim Suhler & Monkey Beat
Waterfront Blues Festival
Portland, OR.
July 3, 2009

Recorded from KBOO FM a local all volunteer radio station. There are always reception problems and drops in sound from this station. Maybe it's just where I live. Anyway, I have tried to find and fix all the drops in sound. This year not all the first day was broadcast. Not sure why. Etta James canceled and was replaced by Keb Mo' but his recording contract wouldn't allow his broadcast.

Please understand that I don't know all these bands and it's hard for me to come up with all the set list's. I'll do my best and ask for help when needed.

Linage: FM tuner straight to HD>CD Wave>EAC with SBE's fixed>TLH>FLAC>torrent.

This is a big undertaking for me every year and I love doing it. Please leave your comments, I enjoy reading them. Enjoy the tunes, twofthrs
"Jim Suhler & Monkey Beat conjure up serious Texas roadhouse blues rock mojo. The beautiful thing about this album is it starts out nasty and just gets meaner. Tijuana Bible is Texas juke joint paradise." - Philip Van Vleck, Billboard Magazine

Houserockin' blues are in Dallas guitarist Jim Suhler's blood. He's spent the better part of the last decade as George Thorogood's right-hand man in the Destroyers. But Suhler has also led his own blues-rock behemoth, Monkey Beat, for more than 17 years and a handful of recordings.

With Monkey Beat, Suhler is well known throughout the Southwest for his no-holds-barred approach to blues-inspired rock and roll and roots music. They have shown an amazing depth of songwriting and playing, and their constant touring in both the USA and Europe has garnered many admirers. They have worked with noted producers Terry Manning (ZZ Top, Led Zeppelin, Stax Records & more), Jim Gaines (Stevie Ray Vaughan, Santana, etc.) and Tom Hambridge (Buddy Guy, Lynyrd Skynyrd), who produced their latest release, Tijuana Bible.
