Howdy from Colorado. Some of you may remember my short series of Ozric Tentacles masters that I uploaded a few months ago. I promised to upload some of my Page / Plant masters at the end of that series run. Well, this Page / Plant series has taken an interesting twist. As most of you know, taping was allowed during the 1995 tour. The result was some incredible sounding recordings from that tour. Taping was not allowed during the 1998 tour which was a shame because the shows were a little more spontaneous and the chemistry between Jimmy and Percy was at an all-time high.

The show performed at Red Rocks Ampitheatre on September 16, 1998 was one of the best concerts I have ever attended with the highlight of the night being "How Many More Times". I never would have dreamed that I would have the priveledge of seeing this song performed live in my backyard 18 years after Led Zeppelin broke up (along with the death of Bonzo). I believe I was in the first 10 rows or so and very close to center to record this historic show. It was a very magical night. Samples included. So, for your enjoyment, may I present:

Now, I mentioned before that this little project took a few twists and turns. Let me explain. I did in fact record both Page Plant shows in Denver from 1995 - May 8 at McNichols Arena and September 30 at Fiddlers Green Ampitheater (my first DAT recording). Although the recordings came out OK, I managed to get a low-generation copy of both shows from the tapers section which made my stealth recordings dispensable. Then, as I was contemplating uploading these better sounding shows from Denver, I had a major flashback as to the true source of my tapers section recordings - they were actually the audio from some video that my buddy bought from a boot$eller shortly after the tour. Some of you should be familiar with this video series from Third Eye productions. I hesitate to use the person's name who put these videos together because he is a boot$eller, but the man did put a lot of time and energy into these videos. Here's the story, as I understand it. He had a video camera mounted in his cowboy hat, wore sunglasses which had a tiny monitor inside that let him see what he was capturing on video at all times and had the controls wired down his sleeves to his hands which controlled the video camera. Pretty ingenious I must say. Then after capturing one of these stellar Page / Plant shows on video, he managed to get a prime audience recording and synch his video to the audio and, wallah, a very high-quality audience video had been produced. My buddy bought quite a few of these videos from the boot$eller back in the '90s on VHS. I was able to get a very decent first generation copy of many of these videos:

1995-10-07 Mountain View
1998-07-03 Cleveland
1998-06-27 Auburn Hills
1995-05-08 Denver
1995-03-13 Austin
1995-05-12 Las Vegas
1995-09-23 & 24 Mexico City
1995-10-09 Boise
1995-09-30 Denver
1998-11-06 London
1996-02-18 Tokyo

A couple of these might be different sources than Third Eye, but most of these are definitely Third Eye. So, I'm wondering if these videos would be of interest here at Dime. I'm especially want to hear from the Led Heads who are completists collectors. I have very little experience converting VHS to digital and trying to convert all of these could be a very major project, but if there is enough interest, I'll give it a try.

In the meantime, Enjoy this stellar Page Plant audio recording.
