boombox's notes november 2014:
For her last big tour, Joan Armatrading decided to finally do a solo tour, ie her, a piano and four guitars. I've never been a huge fan, but this was not to be missed. However, it was all but sold out before a decision to go was made, so front of the balcony was just about the best of what was left. That said, despite the distance and a loud neighbour who coughed occasionally, clapped very loudly and talked to his neighbour the other side a little, the recording sounds pretty good. I had to do extensive work on the applause levels and someone with a bit more time could probably do a better job - my 24 bit master files are available to anyone with the inclination.
Track 10 is just 10 minutes of Joan talking through a load of photos. It was interesting if you were there, but doesn't make the greatest listening without the pictorial side. I cut the tracks in such a way that if you want to leave out Tracks 1 and 10, this show will fit onto a single disc with only the slightest overburn. A single disc tray insert is therefore also included.
Enjoy!
