Joan Jett and the Blackhearts at Warped Tour, Fitchburg Airport, Fitchburg, MA, August 02, 2006, audience recording, January 2017 transfer

This was recorded with a Sony TCS 580V cassette recorder, with internal stereo mics, onto a Maxell XLII cassette. The tape was played back with a JVC TD-W207 cassette deck, RCA cable'd into a Sony STR-D590 receiver. I lined the tape as it played into a Zoom H4N through the 1/4' headphone outputs of the receiver, into the 1/8" input on the Zoom (lining directly from the deck, whether through the RCA output on the back, or the headphone jack, provides over-driven results). The H4N was lined into my PC with USB cable. All track markings, volume boost, and speed correction (0.00 to .975) done with Magix Music On Audio CD & DVD program. Flac created with Trader's Little Helper, SBE and torrent work also done with TLH.

The sound on this gets somewhere in the B to B+ range. It's pretty good, but it's still a recording made with a cassette recorder with internal mics, at an outdoor punk festival. I recorded from a few heads away from the stage, and it sounds pretty stable and nice. The set itself is really cool - her biggest hits, and a few new songs. I have uploaded this show on dimeadozen in the past, but this transfer is better. The one I did previously was made from the Sony TCS-580V recorder, with an Audigy Soundblaster soundcard, whereas this one was done as a wav transfer into the H4N, which gives me a much more faithful wav to work with. The JVC deck provides a nicer playback than the Sony recorder did. Also, the pitch correction on that one was done with a manual pitch correction dial, while this one utilizes the Magix program - I matched the pitch to a youtube video of the last song, from the same show.

Enjoy!
