Comments: Recorded from Section P5, Row B, stealth. Like most other dog and horse racing tracks and Jai Alai venues in South Florida, Flagler Dog Track has become a casino with slot machines and other light gaming and now apparently goes by the Magic City Casino name. I had never been here before so I didn't know what to expect. I knew it was near Miami International Airport. When I got to the venue I discovered that we were directly (I mean directly) under the flight path for incoming flights to MIA. I figured any chance of a quality recording (and decent show) were out the window as planes were arriving roughly every five minutes. I also expected the sound levels to be low as they are often are at venues such as these. As it turned out, while you can hear the planes occasionally, they interferred little if any with this recording and the volume was loud enough to allow for a nice capture. There is not much audience intrusion into the recording. At one point, the guy next to me asks if I mind if he smokes (smoke whatever you want, man). You can also here my buddy trying to conspire with me about what excuses to give my wife for his abandonding her at the front of the stage to return to his seat and his wife. Somebody behind me was doing some taliban screams toward the end of the show but they fit quite well with the music.

The performance itself was excellent. The rain that had come down that afternoon cleared by showtime. Joan and the band were in fine spirits and were clearly enjoying themselves. There was a fair amount of interaction with the audience many of whom were serious Jett-heads that travelled some distances to attend. Making his performance debut as a Blackheart, Acey Slade fit right in and the rest of the band was tight. My wife managed to get another guitar pick for her collection. All around, a great show!

Some pictures I took, some others I found and rudimentary artwork is included.

This is NOT a copy of the master recording. It has been altered in the following ways: levels adjusted and normalized, fades added at disc transitions, downsampled to 16 bit and tracks split all to make it compatible with audio CD format. No equalization or other sound alterations have been applied.
